Ms. Lucia represents and counsels clients in all areas of employment law, including drafting employee handbooks and policies, negotiating severance agreements, and conducting employment investigations. She routinely provides advice and counseling to public and private employers on wage and hour issues, discipline and termination, disability accommodations, and Family and Medical Leave Act/California Family Rights Act leaves of absences. Ms. Lucia also counsels clients on pre-litigation strategies and represents employers in employee grievance proceedings. She has represented employers before the California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement in wage and hour hearings and has conducted employment investigations into discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour claims.
Ms. Lucia has also represented clients in federal and state court in wrongful termination in violation of public policy lawsuits, securities litigation, business and contract disputes, and partnership disputes. She has mediated several cases to successful resolution and has been involved in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) representing both brokers and customers. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Lucia worked for eleven years in the financial industry as a securities trader for Jefferies & Company, Chase Hambrecht & Quist, JP Morgan Chase, and RBC Capital Markets.
Ms. Lucia is currently on the Board for the Women Lawyers of Sacramento and the King Hall Alumni Association, and is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association's Labor and Employment Section, the Sacramento Barrister's Club, and the Milton L. Schwartz David F. Levi American Inn of Court. In law school Ms. Lucia earned Witkin Awards for the highest grade in Civil Procedure, Employment Discrimination, Criminal Law, Health Law, and Intellectual Property Law. She was a Senior Notes and Comments Editor for the UC Davis Law Review, and received the Patrick J. Hopkins Memorial Writing award for her article on the Federal False Claims Act. Ms. Lucia received the Public Service and Pro Bono Certifications from the University of California, Davis School of Law. She was also the recipient of the Frank and Margaret Johns Award for her demonstrated commitment to the University of California, Davis School of Law.
