Legal Community Names Steve Boutin 2015 SCBA Distinguished Attorney of the Year

Sacramento’s legal community has honored Steve Boutin as the 2015 Sacramento County Bar Association’s Distinguished Attorney of the Year. Boutin Jones’ founding shareholder will be honored at the Sacramento County Bar Association’s upcoming annual luncheon. The prestigious award is given to the lawyer who, “most exemplifies the best qualities in the legal profession, and who, through the practice of law, has made Sacramento a better place to live and work.”

Among those commenting on the honor is a group of local Judges, who describe Steve as, “a true pillar of the legal profession,” “an ethical, hardworking attorney of the highest caliber,” and “a mentor, and a good person.” In a cover story in Sacramento Lawyer, the bi-monthly publication of the Sacramento County Bar Association, Steve’s lineage in the legal profession is described, beginning with his great grandfather Stephen Wheeler Downey, who was admitted to law practice in 1863. In the feature article, Steve’s decades-long record of philanthropy and community service is also detailed, including his active role in support of human rights.
